How does gate access actually work for a service visit?

My neighborhood is only partly gated — does this page still apply?
Several communities here are exactly that. Wood Ranch mixes gated and non-gated villages, North Ranch's gates cover sub-enclaves, and at Sterling Hills the Fairways run their own gate. Spanish Hills is the reverse case — the neighborhood itself is ungated and only the Golf Villas sub-communities have gates.
